About The Founder

Andrew Grider, President of Southern Sun Landscaping, grew up in a military family that moved a lot. He was born in Bury St. Edmunds, England. Once his father retired from the US Air Force, the family settled in the beautiful Roanoke Valley of Virginia. He spent the majority of his teen years here. An industrious youth with a passion for landscaping, Andrew founded three companies between the ages of 13 and 16. These included R&A Lawncare, Hire A Son Lawncare, and Andrew’s Home and Garden LLC. These business ventures provided the knowledge base and industry skills foundation for his later business success. He also learned from others, including the owners and staff at Prestige Acres Landscaping, where he worked during high school.

Andrew graduated from Cave Spring High School in 2016 as valedictorian. He attended Virginia Western Community College Engineering classes for two years while he was in high school.
Following his love for landscaping, working with his hands, and customer service, Andrew began studying Building Construction at Virginia Tech, believing college was the next step he should take in life. He finished two years of college, but realized his real passion was entrepreneurial, so founded Southern Sun Landscaping in 2017.

Andrew prides himself in delivering unrivaled service, the utmost integrity, customer satisfaction, and attention to detail. These values not only have brought Southern Sun Landscaping much advancement in the landscaping industry, but also professional recognition.
